TISD students who are enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses have the ability to earn junior college, community college, or
technical college credit. See below for more details on college credit
options.
Advanced Technical Credit (ATC) courses for CTE provide the opportunity for high school students to earn college credit at
numerous participating junior colleges, community colleges, and technical schools in all 50 states! ATC/CTE courses are college level courses taught in high school in
which the student can transfer (articulate) the high school credit to a participating junior college, community college, or technical school.
In order to transfer (articulate) the credit to a participating college, the student must have a minimum passing grade, pay a small processing fee,
and show their official high school transcript at the time of college registration (please check with your individual college for additional articulation requirements,
grade requirements, and processing fee.) It is recommended that students contact the college prior to assuming that articulated credit will be accepted. For additional

DUAL CREDIT AND CONTINUING
EDUCATION CREDIT
Dual Credit and Continuing Education courses are taken while a student is
enrolled in high school at the TJC West campus. Upon successful completion
of the course(s), the student will receive high school credit and college or
continuing education credit at TJC. In order to enroll in TJC courses, the
student must satisfy the following requirements prior to registering with
TJC:
• Auto Intro Transp: SDRT (Standard Diagnostic Reading
Test)
• Automotive, CISCO, Welding: TJC’s Accuplacer test
(score of 51 or
higher on the reading section)
• All TJC Courses: student must pass all sections of
the high school
TAKS tests
TISD will pay the student’s tuition for these courses while the student is
enrolled in TISD. Transportation will be provided to the TJC West Campus by

Note: The school district board of trustees may allow a student to
substitute certain physical activities for the required credits in physical
education, including the Foundations of Personal Fitness. The substitutions
must be based on the physical activity involved in drill team, marching
band, and cheerleading during the fall semester; Junior Reserve Officer
Training Corps (JROTC); athletics; Dance I-IV; and two or three credit
Career and Technology Work-Based Learning courses.
