May 2014 - Kristen Miller - Stewart Middle School 

Miss Miller is A.T. Stewart’s 6th grade science teacher, Campus Ambassador and NJHS sponsor. She nurtures the whole child, providing excellent instruction while caring about her students emotional needs as well. Her knowledge in the classroom enriches the lives of our students and contributes to a positive school environment. In addition, she has gained the respect and admiration of her colleagues as a hard worker and encourager because of her willingness to do whatever it takes to make A.T. Stewart a great school for all children. Kristen is a fabulous teacher, a relationship builder, self-starter and lover of learning!
April 2014 - Judy Sukiennik - Birdwell Elementary School
Judy Sukiennik has been a first grade teacher at Birdwell Elementary School for 20 years. As a master teacher, Mrs. Sukiennik has mentored and coached many of Tyler ISD’s first year teachers and also, UT Tyler and Stephen F. Austin student teachers over the years many of whom are now TISD teachers. Mrs. Sukiennik also was a teacher in Birdwell’s Dual Language Program for several years. She has been a valued member of our staff.
March 2014 - Corpus Parra - T.J. Austin Elementary School

Corpus Parra  is a fourth grade bilingual teacher at Austin Elementary. Ms. Parra is a caring and creative educator. She always exhibits professionalism and has high expectations for her students.  Her class always shows engaged students and great results.  She also demonstrates a deep love and respect for her students.  Ms. Parra is one of the sponsors for the after school STEAM Club and she opens the school library on Saturdays for students and their parents to visit and check out books on the weekend!  Ms. Parra’s dedication and love for teaching is evident in all that she does for Austin Elementary!  Bravo Ms. Parra!
February 2014 - Laura Gilbert - Bell Elementary Global Communications Academy

Laura Gilbert is a third grade teacher at Bell Elementary. Ms. Gilbert is creative in finding new and exciting ways to make learning fun and interesting for her students. She always exhibits professionalism and a calm demeanor in all that she does and her love for learning and working with children is evident in her teaching. She has built a classroom community in which her students practice the “7 habits” on a daily basis and use it in their academic and social tasks. Ms. Gilbert believes in her students and creates opportunities for her students to lead and develop as leaders in their classroom and in their community.
January 2014 - Sofia Pinedo - Dixie Elementary School

Sofia Pinedo is a fourth grade bilingual teacher at Dixie Elementary School. She regularly performs duties beyond those normally assigned and volunteers her time to work on special projects as well. She is the chair for the campus PBIS committee, serves on various interview committees, created attendance incentives for our students and is always willing to learn new strategies and share what she learns with others.  
December 2013 - Peggy Vollmer, Griffin Elementary School  


Peggy Vollmer is the music teacher at Griffin Elementary School. She is very energetic and always has such a pleasant demeanor.  She prides herself in doing her very best on all projects and never backs away from a challenge.  She works to build relationships with our students and seeks excellence in them every day.
November 2013 - Karina Renteria, Caldwell Elementary Arts Academy

Karina Renteria is the new bilingual fifth grade teacher at Caldwell. She is a product of Tyler ISD, having graduated with honors from John Tyler High School. She has done an amazing job working with her team. Every time someone visits her room, they cannot believe she is a first year teacher. Each student in her class, as well as her peers, expect to see great things continue throughout the year from Ms. Renteria!
October 2013 - Sheila Thurmond, Moore Middle School

Sheila has been a solid, consistent math teacher at Moore for several years and has eagerly volunteered for UT Tyler collaborative programs to increase the use of technology in the math classroom. She is continuously looking for new techniques and ideas to take her students to the next level. In addition, she has embraced the UT Tyler Ace program with enthusiasm and has volunteered to provide tutorials after school. In her spare time she coordinates the Campus UIL academic teams for all subjects.
September 2013 -  Bobbie Schroeder, Hogg Middle School

Bobbie Schroeder is a true leader at Hogg.  Her actions constantly reflect that the students must come first.  She serves as a mentor for several new teachers and veterans alike. She is a true model of what a selfless, hard-working, caring teacher should be. Bobbie loves kids and she represents Hogg in a way that the razorbacks are very proud of.
