Dear Parents of Moore Middle School Students,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Moore Middle School, home of the Math, Science & Technology Magnet Program. Last year our students showed what it means to Take it to the Next Level. In Algebra, 94% of students scored at the masters level on their end-of-course exams. The Mustangs secured a district championship in the first annual Rose City Readers challenge as well as a sixth consecutive District Championship in the UIL Academic Meet. Our campus has earned the reputation for excellence in education and achievement with 45 of 52 Academic Distinctions earned through the TEA Accountability System since 2013. Our schoolwide systems and innovative programming have consistently yielded excellent results. I am personally encouraging every family to plug in to our school community in the following ways:

  • Arrive to school on time for tutorials each day (7:50 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.)

  • Attend campus events listed on our campus calendar

  • Create a LiveSchool account and review your child’s progress regularly

  • Join the PTA and volunteer on campus

  • Review and sign your child’s progress report and report card every three weeks

  • Review your child’s planner/calendar and your child’s interactive notebooks and data trackers daily

  • Sign up to receive school text message alerts

Moore Middle School was established in 1955. The MST magnet program began in 1999 with the vision of equipping each classroom with a single computer. Technology has come a long way since then, and we continue to incorporate collaboration and educational technology across the curriculum to redefine the educational experience. Our students analyze the world as mathematicians, investigate their surroundings as scientists and approach problems like engineers. In the liberal arts, our students write like lawyers and read like detectives. From studying college and career pathways, to honing professional communication skills, to studying visual and performing arts and athletics, our students participate in rich experiences preparing them to be innovative problem solvers, critical thinkers, and creative well-rounded individuals. Our teachers and administrators are committed to making this transition exciting, challenging and supportive for all of our students as they bridge the elementary and high school years.

We think that our mascot, the mustang, reflects the qualities embodied by our students. These spirited horses are exceptionally strong and possess great endurance. They are independent, capable of surviving in the wild, but they also thrive in the herd, building relationships and protecting one another. When domesticated they are among the most productive and hardest working breeds of horses.

Our annual theme is “Built for the Battle.” Students are growing up in an ever-changing world. Life offers many challenges, and being an adolescent is especially difficult. We want our students to face challenges head on, knowing that they are equipped to positively impact their world. History teaches us that some of the most effective leaders have necessarily served in the most difficult times. Among those who come to mind are President Lincoln and the “Greatest Generation” of World War II. Likewise, we want our students to show courage in “such a time as this” (Esther 4:14).

Our student planner cover art features two battle-ready horses. The contrast between the two highlights Moore’s nostalgic tradition of strength and excellence that has been maintained and enhanced in a technological and digital age. Those traditional values of integrity, humility and  strength continue to animate every Moore Mustang even now. Forged through years of experience, tradition, and innovation the spirit of the mustang lives on. Our students and faculty view challenges as opportunities, because we are Built for the Battle.

We expect great things for all students as we continue to be ranked among the top schools in Texas. In order to provide a well-rounded education for every child on campus, we recommend that each one participate in the many extracurricular opportunities that we provide. We appreciate the opportunity to work with your family to provide a great educational experience. Follow us on Facebook and sign up to receive text alerts from our campus. Let’s partner together to help our children know that they are  Built for the Battle.
