Our school's namesake, Thomas Boyd Ramey (1892-1967) was an established lawyer and educator born in Tyler, Texas. He was an organizer and the first president of the Tyler Industrial Foundation and director of the Texas Research League. He was the first president of the board of trustees of Tyler Junior College, a president of the Tyler School Board, and a member and chairman of the State Board of Education. He was also an organizer and the first president of the Texas Rose Festival. At Ramey Elementary we hope students exemplify Mr. Ramey's committment to education and community involvment in order to estalish ourselves as the Best Elementary School in the Universe!
