Available Scholarships
All scholarship applications must be submitted through the Tyler ISD Foundation online application portal.
The Tyler ISD Foundation manages several scholarships that are awarded to graduating Tyler ISD Seniors each Spring.
Tab and Bonnie Beall Scholarship
The Tab and Bonnie Beall Scholarship was established in 2010 and was designed to provide college education funding assistance based on merit and need to graduating Tyler ISD students. Preferences are given to those attending Texas College, Tyler Junior College, or the University of Texas at Tyler.
James R. Carns Memorial Scholarship
The James R. Carns Memorial Scholarship was formed in 2009 by his children to honor the life and memory of a strong, smart, creative, loving, and caring man in hopes that his legacy would encourage young people to follow their dreams, work hard, and be determined to excel in their chosen career path. This need-based scholarship is awarded to a graduating Tyler ISD student taking and/or pursuing technical courses.
Jhared Thomas (JT Class of 2001) Memorial Scholarship
The Jhared Thomas Memorial Scholarship is presented by the John Tyler High School Class of 2001 in honor of Jhared Thomas, a 2001 graduate of John Tyler who passed away in August 2013. This need and merit-based scholarship is awarded to a graduating student from Tyler High School with outstanding service, leadership, and academic excellence.
Joe Maland Memorial Scholarship
The Joe Maland Memorial Scholarship was created in 2006 by MaryAnn Girard and Dave Maland in honor of their son, Joe, a Robert E. Lee graduate and captain of the swim team, who passed away in 2005 due to a medical condition. The scholarship is awarded to graduating students from Tyler Legacy High School with outstanding academic achievement and participation in the Tyler Legacy Swim Team.
Construction Scholarship - Education
The Construction Scholarship - Education was created in 2019 through generous donations by contractors, subcontractors, and professional service firms working on the 2017 Tyler ISD bond projects. This scholarship is awarded to graduating Tyler ISD student(s) pursuing a career in the construction and related services industry.
Construction Scholarship - Apprenticeship
The Construction Scholarship - Apprenticeship was created in 2019 through generous donations by contractors, subcontractors, and professional service firms working on the 2017 Tyler ISD bond projects. This scholarship is awarded to junior or senior CTC Tyler ISD student(s) pursuing a trade certificate or in need of apprenticeship supplies/tools.
Ray H. Marr Trades Scholarship
The Ray H. Marr Scholarship was formed in 2020 through a generous donation by the Ray H. Marr Foundation. These scholarships are awarded to graduating Tyler ISD student(s) who are pursuing post-secondary training in construction or manufacturing trades (manufacturing technology, automotive, or construction degree or related field of study such as engineering, welding, surveying, HVAC, industrial, or drafting) and/or pursuing a license in these trades to complete their training. Preferences for seniors with a demonstrated interest in going into the trades by attending CTC Tyler ISD, extra-curricular activities, or working in construction or manufacturing while attending Tyler ISD.
Maria Emma Nunn Memorial Scholarship
The Maria Emma Nunn Memorial Scholarship was formed in 2020 by her family to honor the life of the beloved Tyler ISD long-time educator. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Tyler ISD pursuing a degree in primary or secondary education and/or a related field with a preference for those participating in a Tyler ISD foreign language club.
Hall Family Foundation Scholarship
The Hall Family Foundation Scholarship was formed in 2022 through a generous donation by Pam and Gerry Hall. These scholarships are awarded to graduating Tyler ISD student(s) who intend on attending either the TJC Automotive Program for technicians and/or accounting majors with the intent of becoming Controllers, Chief Financial Officers, etc. at an auto dealership. Preferences for seniors with a demonstrated interest in going into the automotive industry by attending CTC Tyler ISD. Preferences for children of Veterans or active-duty military members are encouraged to apply.
Biggs and Greenslade Scholarship
The Biggs and Greenslade Scholarship was formed in 2023 through a generous donation by Biggs & Greenslade, P.C. These scholarships are awarded to graduating Tyler ISD student(s) from Tyler High School or Tyler Legacy High School who are attending a public or private higher education college or university with intent on pursuing a career in Public Service.
