Our mission is to enhance student learning and performance by providing the tools necessary for a data-driven, decision-making organization.
Accountability
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) evaluates campuses primarily based on the students overall performance on the STAAR test, their improvement from one year to the next, their improvement relative to their peers, and their readiness for college. Based on these factors, TEA releases school report cards for each of the campuses in Tyler ISD as well as for the district and can be found here.

Credit by Exam (CBE)
Credit by Exam (CBE) is an assessment option which affords students the opportunity for promotion to the next grade level (K-5) and to gain course credit (6-12). There are two types of CBE:

STAAR
The State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test is a mastery test used to assess a student’s proficiency of a particular subject in a specified grade level.

TELPAS
The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) was designed by TEA to provide a measure of the progress of limited English proficient (LEP) students in public schools.

National Tests
We offer students numerous opportunities to take national tests, including the ACT, PSAT, and SAT.

Testing Calendars
Dates for state assessments (e.g., TAKS, STAAR & TELPAS) are provided by the state and unable to be changed. Local test dates are provided to ensure consistency, validity, and reliability of the benchmarks, which are used to assess student progress prior to STAAR tests.
