Dr. Marty L. Crawford ascends into a dozen years as Superintendent of Schools for Tylerβs Hometown School District after arriving at Tyler ISD in 2014, now 18 years total in the role of school system CEO, with over 20 years in Texas K-12 school administration, while spanning parts of four decades of work as an educator. Crawford holds a Bachelor of Education from Baylor University, a Master of Education from The University of Oklahoma, and a Doctor of Educational Administration from East Texas A&M University.
The 2024-2025 school year saw Dr. Crawford as president of the Texas School Alliance (TSA) and that yearβs 89th Legislative Session. He serves as TSAβs Past President in 2025-2026. Crawford sits upon the Legislative Council with the University Interscholastic League and in community leadership roles such as advisor for Tylerβs Mentoring Alliance, board membership with Tyler Main Street, ex officio work with the Tyler Chamber of Commerce board, and chairmanship of the Tyler Area Business Education Council.
A Texas educator legacy with deep roots in East Texas and a member of the Baylor University Athletics Hall of Fame, Dr. Crawford and his wife Alanna are proud parents of three children: two daughters, Ashton, who works in hospital management and holds an RN with a Bachelors and Masters in Nursing, and an MBA, all degrees earned from Tyler Junior College and The University of Texas at Tyler; and A.J., a student-athlete at Tyler Legacy High School; along with one son, Jackson, a Tyler Robert E. Lee High School and The University of Texas at Tyler graduate. The Crawford's are also blessed with their educator son-in-law, Kole, and grandsons, Harlen and Harvey Layne.
