During the annual Community Benefit Breakfast on July 18th, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System (CTMFHS) honored three local educational programs for their community contributions.
Tyler ISDβs Sarah Jane Walker (CTE Counselor) and Jessica Brown (CTE Work-Based Learning Coordinator) were recognized as a Community Partners in Mission 2023 Award Recipient for the Career Technology Centerβs partnership with CTMFHS Volunteer Services - Job Shadowing Program. This program allows students to shadow real-life work training through Volunteer Services at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances.
βCHRISTUS has been such a huge supporter of our CTE Summer Internship program,β Mrs. Walker said. βThey not only provide our students with opportunities but encourage and support them along the way. Working in partnership with this organization is truly changing the face of Health Science education in Tyler ISD.β
Also recognized as a Community Partners in Mission 2023 Award Recipient was Tyler ISDβs Project SEARCH, which is a collaboration between Tyler ISD, Texas Workforce Solutions, Winning Edge Employment Services, Andrews Center, and CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. Participating students work in a supported work training program and rotate through different internships within the workplace setting to be ready for competitive and independent employment after one year in Project SEARCH.
"Seeing our students successfully enter the workplace after a year of hard work, determination, and skill building is one of the most rewarding experiences," Tyler ISD Project SEARCH Vocational Adjustment Coordinator DJ Warren said. "Seeing their growth among their peers in the workplace, socialization with professionals, and demonstrating independence into adulthood in the eyes of their parent is what this program is all about. Iβm proud to lead such wonderfully talented and diverse groups of young men and women each year. This is what successful student outcomes is all about!"
Tyler ISD is thankful for the partnerships we have with CHRISTUS and look forward to continuing to work together in support of successful student outcomes.
