Tyler ISD welcomed over 250 new teachers to the district via the 2023-2024 New Teacher Induction on August 1 and 2. These educators received exciting greetings from the drum lines, drill teams, and cheerleaders from both high schools, breakfast provided by Able's Land, Inc., and a catered adventure-themed luncheon provided by the Tyler ISD Foundation. Professional learning included introductions to the district's technology resources, professional learning responsibilities, and how best to teach students with disabilities.
Teachers new to the profession or new to teaching in a Texas public school attended Beginning Teacher Academy on August 3 and 4. Breakfast was provided on both days by a generous donation from Cooperative Teachers Credit Union (CTCU), lunch was sponsored on August 3 by the Judy Kunzman Team of Keller Williams Realty, and each attendee received a $15 gift card from Applebee's. Beginning teachers practiced establishing classroom systems and routines, learned to access the district curriculum for planning, and built networks with peers across the district.
Additional giveaways included gift cards from the Tyler ISD Foundation, and Judy Kunzman's team, while Thrivent raffled off a gift basket.
