Tyler Legacy High School students are starting the school year committed to making a difference in their community. These dedicated students will join 1,050 high schools and 110,000 students nationwide to give a million books to underserved youth in their local communities. Students participated in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™ kickoff featuring the service project on Wednesday after school.

Chick-fil-A, Inc. sponsors the one million books, which will be packaged and given by our student leaders to our hometown charities, elementary schools, and non-profit organizations chosen by the group. The academy is a national high school leadership program focused on Impact Through Action.

β€œI am excited to start on this journey with a new group of Red Raiders,” Tyler Legacy High School Academic Dean and Chick-fil-A Leader Academy school sponsor Kala Morrow said. β€œCFA Leadership Academy offers a great experience and opportunity for our students to learn about and develop characteristics that can set them up for success in the future. As we start with vision and values and work through the Leader Labs covering servant leadership, teamwork, and communication, these students become more confident in their ability to make good decisions and we believe they will become leaders, on our campus and in our community.”

Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a national high school leadership program focused on Impact Through Action. Each month, students will gather to learn leadership principles through lessons called Leader Labs. The seven-month program empowers high school students to put leadership principles into practice through several student-led community service projects that culminate in a year-end impact.

β€œI am super excited to be a part of this program,” student Caroline Hines said. β€œGiving back to the community is something I enjoy, and I am involved in several volunteerism organizations. Also, learning new leadership skills is important as I look to my educational future and will benefit me as I apply to college in the next few years."
