Tyler ISD is proud to announce that Norvell Boykin, a former Project SEARCH graduate and current CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System employee, has been recognized as a Texas Workforce Vocational Rehabilitation Services success story. This prestigious accolade was presented during an event hosted by Texas Workforce Solutions as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAN) celebrations.

NDEAN, observed each October, aims to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities, both past and present, and highlight inclusive employment policies and practices that benefit both employers and employees.

Norvell Boykin's remarkable journey is a shining example of the success achieved through the collaborative efforts of Tyler ISD, Texas Workforce Solutions, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System, Andrews Center, and Winning Edge Employment Services.

At the award ceremony, Boykin had the opportunity to deliver his own speech, which left a profound impact on all those in attendance. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the potential for individuals with disabilities to excel in the workforce when given the right opportunities.

Project SEARCH, which started at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System in 2015, is an 18+ Program located at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Hospital that has been instrumental in providing Tyler ISD students with disabilities the education and training they need to thrive in today's competitive job market. Through a series of internships, students gain valuable skills that prepare them for employment opportunities throughout the community.
