Congratulations to our District Secondary Teacher of Month, Hilary Hodges, English teacher at Tyler High School.

Ms. Hodges has been a dedicated educator at Tyler High School (THS) for four years. Since taking on the role of English Department Chair and CILT leader, Ms. Hodges has been a driving force behind the steady increase in English I and II scores at THS.

Her collaboration with the campus librarian and administration has led to the creation of classroom libraries in every English classroom, significantly boosting reading circulation and facilitating teacher-student reading conferences. This initiative reflects her commitment to fostering a love for reading and improving literacy skills among students.

Ms. Hodges’ leadership and dedication are evident in her students’ growth and positive survey responses, putting her on track to achieve a TIA rating. Amid ELAR teacher shortages, she has been a stable and consistent leader, working closely with teachers in PLCs and the C&I Department to meet student needs effectively. She plays a crucial role in staff development, assisting with PD training days, and ensuring all students receive necessary accommodations in collaboration with the testing coordinator.

Her efforts extend to advocating for THS, participating in teacher recruitment, and supporting new hires. Respected by her peers, Ms. Hodges’ contributions and leadership have had a lasting impact on the THS community.
