Director of Music Thomas LePatrick at Ramey Elementary cruised through their Hispanic Heritage celebration with a vibrant gathering of students, families, and community members. Bringing everyone together after school, the young learners explored the rich traditions of Hispanic culture through music, dance, and performance.  There was a chance for all attendees to make crafts, play games, and enjoy all there was to offer.

Each grade level showcased songs or dances, with highlights including the lively β€œDanza de los Viejitos” by Mrs. Elizalde’s 2nd-grade class. The dance represents the cycle of life, where older men represent the end and the beginning of a new cycle. The dance is typically performed by four or five men dressed in traditional clothing, with straw hats and canes. The audience sang along to a famous tune, β€œLa Bamba,” by 4th graders, and the spirited Pre-K rendition of β€œEl Querreque” led by Ms. Tierrablanca and performances by Boulter Middle School Jazz Band. It’s inspiring for elementary students who may soon attend Boulter Middle School to see them showcase their musical talents.

Students and their families also enjoyed an exceptional guest performance featuring Ramey staff members Mrs. Chavez and Mr. Mendoza performing β€œLa Llorona” by Angela Aguilar.

There was a special opportunity for parents to take a Leader in Me survey and be entered into a raffle for one of two gifts baskets. Thank you to our community partners, Raising Cane's and Thrivent Financial, for the gift baskets.

The staff at Ramey Elementary are so grateful to everyone who joined them in celebrating their campus community’s diverse cultural heritage!
