The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) has renewed its partnership with Tyler ISD to make advanced degrees more accessible to school district teachers and administrators.

Team. One Tyler, which began seven years ago, is a program designed to help recruit and retain educators. Tyler ISD pays for eligible district staff who show a strong interest in pursuing a master’s degree or principal certification to earn a degree from UT Tyler.

β€œWe have a tremendous amount of faith in our internal candidates,” said Tyler ISD Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford. β€œUT Tyler is our premier higher education partner for this initiative, and we’re so fortunate to work with Dr. Philley, her leadership team and the School of Education to provide this opportunity.”

This partnership will help increase leadership capacity within the district allowing it to embed within the program targeted district-specific needs.

β€œWe want to deliver,” said UT Tyler President Julie V. Philley, MD. β€œWe want to be everything that Tyler ISD needs us to be because we’re so proud of our school system and extremely proud to work with them. This partnership is about keeping these talented educators here in East Texas. It’s important that we pour into our own and take care of each other.”

Team. One Tyler provides a seamless experience for those who want to become administrators and continue their wonderful work with the school district, which is one of the best in the state, Philley added.

Candidates will be selected for Team. One Tyler this fall and will begin the program in spring 2025. For more information, contact Tyler ISD Human Resources at 903-262-1000.
