Congratulations to Valeria Araujo, a 5th grade student at Orr Elementary School, for being named the District Elementary Student of the Month.

Valeria exemplifies what it means to be an engaged, dedicated, and well-rounded student. Academically, she maintains excellent grades, is strongly committed to her studies, and sets a positive example for her peers. Her leadership skills shine brightly on campus, where she is actively involved in multiple leadership roles.

Valeria has been a key member of the Orr News Team for the past two years, contributing both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. She plays an active role as an on-camera student newscaster, skillfully delivering news to the school community, and assists in broadcasting behind the camera. Her work on the News Team reflects her responsibility, creativity, and teamwork. As a Rose City Reader, she inspires a love of reading in others and shows an enthusiasm for learning that is truly commendable. Additionally, her involvement in the Girls in STEM Club highlights her curiosity and passion for science, technology, engineering, and math, where she encourages other young girls to pursue their interests in these fields.

Outside of school, Valeria’s dedication continues to impress. She is actively involved at St. Peter’s Church, where she is a valued member of the community. Her athletic talents are also notableβ€”she plays volleyball and swims, showing her commitment to health and sportsmanship.

Valeria is an outstanding example of the Leader in Me values cherished at Orr Elementary. Her leadership, academic excellence, and community involvement make her incredibly deserving of the Tyler ISD Elementary Student of the Month recognition.

The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
