Congratulations to our District Secondary Teacher of Month, Mitch Ray, Physics teacher at Tyler Legacy High School.

As a dedicated and passionate educator, Mr. Ray has consistently demonstrated an exceptional commitment to his students and the broader school community.

Mitch teaches Physics, AP Physics 1, and AP Physics C, and his teaching style is both innovative and engaging, making complex subjects accessible and enjoyable for all students. You can often find him taking his learning beyond the classroom into the hallways and out in front of the school. He incorporates a variety of instructional strategies, ensuring that each student can thrive. His ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment fosters a love of learning, encouraging students to express themselves and develop critical thinking skills.

In addition to his classroom instruction, Mitch is an integral member of the AVID Site Team, where he works collaboratively to support students in developing the skills necessary for college readiness. He also sponsors the Investing Club, providing students with real-world financial knowledge and encouraging them to explore their interests in economics and investing.

Mitch's encouragement has led to remarkable achievements, including four students participating in the nationally acclaimed exam for the U.S. Physics Team, sponsored by the American Association of Physics Teachers. His dedication to inspiring students to reach for excellence has opened doors for them that they may not have considered otherwise.

Mitch plays a vital role in professional development on campus, leading sessions that empower his colleagues to enhance their teaching practices. He also maintains strong communication with families by sending weekly emails to parents, keeping them informed and engaged in their children's education. His proactive approach fosters a sense of community and partnership that greatly benefits our students.

What truly sets Mitch apart is his positive attitude. He always has a smile on his face, creating an inviting atmosphere that makes students and staff alike feel welcome and valued. His enthusiasm for teaching and genuine care for his students' success are palpable and contagious.
