From Tyler ISD to Capitol Hill: Cruz Perez Named Legislative Director for Congressman Moran
Tyler ISD alumnus Cruz Perez is making waves in Washington, D.C. Perez, a 2018 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School (now Tyler Legacy), has been promoted to Legislative Director in the office of Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX). His journey in public service began when Moran was first sworn into office in January 2023. Perez quickly rose through the ranks from Legislative Correspondent to Senior Legislative Assistant before earning his latest promotion.
Perezβs path to Capitol Hill started in Tyler, where he attended Bonner, Clarkston, and Bell elementary schools, Moore Middle School, and Robert E. Lee High School. He continued his education at Tyler Junior College before earning a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Religion from Baylor University. Before joining Congressman Moranβs team, he gained experience working in the office of Texas Congresswoman Mayra Flores (R-TX-34).
Congressman Moran praised Perez and his colleagues, saying, βIβm pleased to announce the following staffing changes in my office, with members who have been with me since the beginning of my time in Congress moving up and new staff joining our team to bring additional expertise and experience both in the district and in D.C. during this next term.β
Perezβs story is a testament to dedication and perseverance, showing how Tyler ISD graduates can make a lasting impact far beyond East Texas.
