adults holding artwork

Tyler ISD’s LINK 18+ Program is proud to spotlight three of its students, Riley Harris, Breanna Lindsay, and Danika Wetmore, who have spent the semester interning at the Rose City Art Gallery. With support from a dedicated job coach and guidance from gallery staff, these young artists-in-training have explored their creativity while developing valuable real-world skills. Now, their artistic journey is being honored with a public exhibition titled β€œLINKed by Art: Connecting Beyond the Frame.”

Hosted by the Rose City Art Gallery, this special showcase will take place May 2–3, 2025, at 328 S. College Ave. in Tyler, with an Artist Reception on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists and celebrate their accomplishments while viewingβ€”and purchasingβ€”the original pieces created during the internship.

This collaborative effort between the gallery, PORAL, and Tyler ISD's LINK Program showcases the power of art to build confidence, foster independence, and create lasting community connections. Interns have been immersed in daily gallery operations, learning everything from curating and set up to engaging with artists and visitors, while also producing their own works of art.

The LINK Program (Learning Independence and New Knowledge) supports young adults with special abilities as they prepare for life after high school through job training, life skills, and community engagement. β€œLINKed by Art” demonstrates what can happen when education and opportunity intersect with creativity and support.

All are welcome to attend and experience the inspiring results of this meaningful collaboration.
