Seniors across Tyler ISD came together to celebrate their next chapter during the 2025 AVID Decision Day. The annual celebration honored the studentsβ commitment to pursuing higher education, certification programs, trade schools, or military service.
Excitement filled all four Tyler ISD high schools - Tyler High, Tyler Legacy, RISE Academy, and Early College High School, as students, families, and staff cheered on the Class of 2025. From vibrant displays of college gear and personalized signs to the proud sounds of applause, each school transformed into a space of pride and inspiration. The day emphasized the significance of each seniors post-secondary decision, reinforcing the districtβs commitment to recognizing every studentβs success.
In a setting similar to an athletic signing day, students had the opportunity to step in front of their peers to sign symbolic letters of intent, sharing their plans with the school communities. Each student also created a personalized slide projected for all to see, displaying their senior photo alongside the logo of their chosen college, career pathway, or military branch.
This yearβs Decision Day continued its alignment with the national observance of College Decision Day, encouraging students to formally commit to their futures and inspiring underclassmen to plan ahead.
"Decision Day is one of our favorite days of the yearβitβs a chance to celebrate our seniors and the decisions theyβve made for life after high school, whether thatβs college, a career, or the military,β said Lillian Brooks, Tyler ISD AVID Coordinator. βAt Tyler ISD, weβre focused on successful student outcomes, and events like this are part of how we support and recognize every studentβs journey.β
Sponsored annually by the Tyler ISD AVID College and Career department, Decision Day is made even more special through our partnership with the Tyler Area Business Education Council.
"Recognizing that our young citizens are our strongest asset for the future, and will drive economic growth, innovation, and stability for all residents of Tyler, we celebrate their decision to pursue postsecondary education, training, the military, or a career right after high school graduation," stated Executive Director of the Tyler Area Business Education Council LaToya Young. "The Tyler Area Business Education Council, Tyler ISD, business partners, and higher education institutions in the Tyler area are committed to recognizing and celebrating graduating seniors for their plans after high school and encouraging younger students to prepare early for college."
Seniors who participated in Decision Day festivities had the opportunity to win prizes and gift cards, generously provided by sponsors.
