February 2nd is National Girls and Women in Sports Day. As a supporter of Tyler ISD Athletics, Academy Sports and Outdoors took the time to give back to women in sports by recognizing two outstanding coaches from Tyler ISD.
Coaches Amber Wiley, Tyler High School, and Lamessa Derrett, Boulter Middle School, were awarded $1000 each for the athletic programs at their campuses.
Academy Store Director Randy Smiley said, “Academy Sports and Outdoors is celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day by surprising two very deserving Tyler ISD coaches. The coaches were able to shop for sports equipment for their students, as well as fun gifts for themselves. Academy is proud to support girls and women in sports every day in our communities.”
Tyler ISD Athletic Director Greg Priest and Assistant Director Donnie Little were also presented with a $3000 gift card.
