tables and chairs set up in a gym for a blood drive

Tyler High School Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) organized and partnered with Carter Blood Care on Valentineโ€™s Day to hold a unique Blood Drive. Early in the morning, dozens of students began arriving to contribute. They continued to fill beds throughout the day to give the ultimate Valentineโ€™s Day gift of love โ€“ life!

โ€œThe students did all of the work to make this a successful event,โ€ Anatomy and Physiology/EKG Tech Steve Niedrauer said. โ€œI am so proud to be alongside them for todayโ€™s effort. Almost forty percent of all blood donated locally comes from students like these,โ€  he added.

โ€œEach donor received a Valentine card with health-related dad jokes to brighten their day with a smile,โ€ Campus HOSA president Aaliyah Iglesias shared. โ€œBy holding blood drives on campus and making it a fun experience,  we bring attention to the need to students and the importance of fulfilling the supply demands in our community.โ€
