African American female sits behind the wheel of a school bus

Surprise!  Our Tyler ISD bus drivers received well-deserved recognition when they dropped off students at the Boshears campus today. Waiting in the life skills room was a hot breakfast buffet and a thankful school staff!  After a heartfelt speech from leadership, noting the driver's positive attitudes, patience, and care they provide to our students every day, it was discovered there was another reason for the group to celebrate. Everyone broke out in song for a driver whose birthday was the same day!

A little later, the special treatment continued at the central transportation hub. Drivers returning from their morning routes found unexpected hot sandwiches and fancy pastries on their special appreciation menu. The leadership in attendance shared their gratitude while serving the food.

The Career and Technology Center was the final stop for National Bus Driver Appreciation Day.  Those drivers are responsible for transporting students from Tyler Legacy and Tyler High schools. They were able to take the time to share a homemade bowl of soup and conversation with thankful coworkers during lunch.
