Shortly after their units on Spanish and Mexican colonization, 7th graders at Caldwell Arts Academy had the opportunity to visit the Old Stone Fort on the Stephen F. Austin campus.
It was a rare opportunity for students of history to have some hands-on experience with what life was like for both Native American groups in the area and the early settlers of East Texas. 
In addition to the program at the Old Stone Fort, students had the opportunity to tour the SFA campus and get a glimpse of what the university has to offer. Caldwell students and staff are very grateful to the team at the Old Stone Fort and Stephen F. Austin State University for hosting the group.
