According to the Brookings Institute, a decade of studies on non-public school subsidies shows they actually hurt student achievement. Public tax dollars should be used to advance a public good, like improving student achievement. Vouchers do not improve student achievement. In many states, vouchers have led to a decline in student achievement.
It's National School Bus Safety Week, and here are the four things we need you to know! πŸšŒπŸ‘‡ 1) Flashing Yellows = Get ready to STOP (Don't speed up) 2) Red Lights + Stop Sign = STOP! (Don't go around) 3) The Danger Zone = All vehicles stay 12 feet away from the bus 4) The MOST DANGEROUS action is when students cross the front of the bus. Pay attention to children crossing. 🚸 School Bus Safety ensures that children return home safely, and we all have a role in that. πŸ–€

The state expects record increases in revenue. There is more than enough to provide increased funding for schools and property tax relief.
Governor Abbott announced a 30-day special session beginning October 9 to provide other than public school subsidies. Public schools are underfunded by billions, and any available funding should be prioritized for teacher raises and to help schools pay the bills. We'll continue sharing updates to keep you informed as the session progresses. Get more information on our Government Relations webpage πŸ‘‰https://www.tylerisd.org/page/government-relations πŸ”—

Texas Schools are underfunded by billions. Due to the record inflation, public schools need more that 14 billion in new pay per-student funding to have the same buying power as in 2019.

We continue to work around the clock after last week’s boil water notice from the City of Tyler. We are flushing lines, especially those to water fountains. The district is also replacing water filters on all the water bottle fillers. In the meantime, we are doing our best to deploy bottled water to our campuses for the students who need it.
