Woods 5th grade students picked a pup-focused service project this year supporting the SPCA. The students helped organize and manage the fundraiser, collected money from the classrooms and counted it with their teachers.
They also kept track of donation totals for each class and set their overall goal at $800. The group was elated to exceed their goal and present a $1200 check to the organization.
To celebrate, the SPCA provided the students with puppy time in the library and the school provided PUP-sicles (popsicles) for the first-grade class that collected the most money overall.
Winston Duke, Principal Georgeanna Jones' dog, will also appear with the winning students in the yearbook.
