Academics

Birdwell students have an appetite for learning, nourished by our experienced faculty and outstanding dual language program.

We incorporate biculturalism in our day-to-day activities to support dual language instruction as a segway for embracing all cultures worldwide. Your student can join our dual language program even if Spanish is not spoken so long as you are invested in your child becoming bilingual and biliterate. Every child has gifts in language we can leverage to support their journey into becoming leaders in the community.

We offer a comprehensive school-wide experience by focusing on biliteracy, bilingualism, and the cultivation of sociocultural capital for our students to navigate the world as leaders.

Sociocultural Capital

At Birdwell, we focus on building your child's sociocultural capital. In sociology, cultural capital is the social assets of a person or, in this case, our students. We work hard to build these assets and skills to increase their ability to compete in the job market and standing as global citizens in:

Emotional Intelligence

Interpersonal Communication Skills

Elementary School Curriculum

We follow a Two-Way Dual Language model whereby students are immersed in Spanish starting in Pre-K (90% of the day) to develop oral language and literacy skills.

We teach reading/language arts, math, social studies, and science, but our supportive learning environment takes learning to another level.

Classrooms are vibrant and students work together to achieve their personal best.

Middle School Curriculum

Our middle school classes offer a unique experience with smaller grade levels and student-to-teacher ratios. Your child will have the opportunity to earn high school and CTE (Career and Technical Education) credits.

Our Dual Language program allows students to leave middle school, fulfilling all their foreign language high school requirements and placing them on a path to potentially obtain their Seal of Biliteracy.
