On November 6th, the AVID department at BMS held an informational meeting recruiting for future AVID members. The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program in Tyler ISD is designed to prepare students for college readiness and success in a global society. It focuses on closing the opportunity gap by equipping students with skills in critical thinking, organization, and academic rigor. AVID provides support through tutorials, mentoring, and collaborative learning strategies, with an emphasis on fostering a college-going culture and helping students achieve their highest potential. The program is integrated into the curriculum, benefiting students across various grade levels. Boulter Middle school AVID program is led by Kierra Green and Leora Coleman.
