The dedication, passion, and excellence of Tyler ISD's educators took center stage at the 2025 Educator of the Year Gala, a night filled with celebration, recognition, and heartfelt appreciation. Thanks to the generous support of the Cooperative Teachers Credit Union (CTCU) and other valued sponsors, the event honored the teachers and leaders who make an impact in classrooms and beyond.
The evening began with excitement as Adrianna Gauna from Tyler High School was named Rookie of the Year, an award sponsored by The Mortgage House. Gauna's enthusiasm and dedication in her first year of teaching set her apart as a rising star in education.
Dr. Bobby Markle, Principal of Caldwell Arts Academy, was recognized as Principal of the Year, sponsored by Ruby's Mexican Restaurant. Known for his strong leadership and dedication to student success, Dr. Markle's impact on his campus and the greater community exemplifies excellence in education.
Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford praised the honorees, calling them true champions for students. βOur educators are the driving force behind Tyler ISD,β Dr. Crawford said. βTheir dedication to excellence, leadership, and student success is what makes our district strong and successful.β
Joined by CTCU President Tim Miller, Dr. Crawford also honored 30 Campus Teachers of the Year, each recognized for their outstanding dedication to academic excellence. The evening's biggest moment arrived with the announcement of the District Teachers of the Year:
Scott Carter from Caldwell Arts Academy β Elementary Teacher of the Year
Abbey Smith from Moore Middle School β Secondary Teacher of the Year
Both Carter and Smith will now represent Tyler ISD at the regional level, competing for the Region 7 Teacher of the Year title and continuing to showcase the district's commitment to excellence in education.
Dr. Crawford concluded the evening by highlighting the lasting impact educators have on students and the community. βTonight is a celebration of the dedication, passion, and talent of our teachers and leaders,β he said. βTheir influence reaches beyond the classroom, shaping the future of both our students and our community.β
The success of the event was made possible by the generous support of sponsors, including Tab and Bonnie Beall and the Tyler ISD Foundation, reflecting a shared commitment to celebrating and supporting the educators who shape young minds every day.
