Just over six years ago, Caldwell Arts Academy was blessed to have community partners the Women's Fund of Smith County and the Tyler ISD foundation, help support a $60,000 plus project that converted our old storage building into a state of the art ceramics studio. This project included two brand new kilns, five throwing wheels, storage racks for drying, new extruder and slab roller, mini-split climate control and reframing the old bay door into a shop front.
Since its inception, this space has grown with our programming and now serves over 600 students a year and our active middle school 3D courses. From slab working to wheel work, our Stars execute multiple projects a year for local gallery showings and competitions.
We are honored to have this one of a kind learning space and look forward to growing our course work to support our Stars gifts in ceramics. As we wrap up recognizing National Choice Week, this lab is a reminder of the invest from our partners and community to make Caldwell Arts Academy the choice for excellence in education and the arts!
