We've had a great week of learning in Cougar Nation! Next week is the end of our first 9 week grading period. Thank you for trusting us to educate and love on your amazing kids these past 9 weeks of school. We have seen so much growth, academically, and can't wait to see what all our kids accomplish these next 9 weeks of school!
Student Holiday-no school for students: Monday, October 16, 2023
Fall Festival: PTA is collecting bags of individually wrapped candy for our Fall Festival! If you are able to donate a bag of candy for the festival, please send with your student to school. We will be collecting bags of candy from Monday, October 2nd--Thursday, October 19th.
Fall Festival, sponsored by PTA, will take place on Friday, October 20th from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the Clarkston front parking lot. More details to come at the PTA meeting on October 2nd!
Fall Pictures: Fall picture day is October 13th! Picture order forms have been sent home with students. Lifetouch School Photography, known for capturing school pictures from K-12 nationwide, will take our school photos this year. For more information about Picture Day, check out the flyer sent home with students this past week or visit: https://schools.lifetouch.com/... Picture Day ID: EVT6QRVGR . Please contact your student's teacher if you need details on the timing of grade level pictures on the 13th.
Book Character Parade: Friday, October 27th is our annual Book Character Parade! Students and staff are encouraged to dress as their favorite book character! The character of choice must be from a school appropriate book & no masks or weapons will be allowed at school for this event. Families: we will be inviting you guys into campus this year to watch the parade! Please be on the lookout for details regarding the time of the character parade and the parent watch area--all coming to you next week!
Spirit Gear--next week is the last week for orders! For more details, please visit the Clarkston PTA Facebook page. All students have received a paper order form. Our front office also has order forms available. PTA is only taking cash or checks for shirt orders at this time. To place your order, please complete the order form & place your order form with your payment in a sealed envelope. Then, please have your student (or you can bring to office yourself) bring the sealed envelope to the front office to place your order in the PTA lock box (located in our front office). One of our PTA officers will check the lock box weekly to collect orders and get your order fulfilled. ALL order forms are due no later than October 13th.
Our PTA supports several of the events happening on campus this year. We encourage all of our families to join the Clarkston PTA-moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and even grandparents can join! Your $8.50 yearly membership goes directly back into supporting Clarkston students. As a PTA member, you can choose your level of involvement-whether thatβs simply paying your annual membership fee or helping PTA plan school events such as the fall carnival, field day, class parties, and other fun events on campus. Arrival Procedures:
All students should enter campus through the cafeteria doors each morning. Only students and staff are allowed to enter through the cafeteria doors. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria, and is free to all students, from 7:00am-7:45am. Any student arriving to campus after 7:50am will need to have a parent walk them in through the front entrance doors.
Dismissal Procedures:
Parents should complete an After-School Action Plan(with classroom teacher) so that teachers and staff have a written plan for each student. Parents must call the front office or submit a written request for student dismissal changes by 2:30 p.m. each day.
Students in grades pre-k, kindergarten, and first will not be allowed to dismiss as "walkers". They must have an older sibling at Clarkston to walk home with them.
Parents may pick up their child by signing him/her out through the office (before 2:30pm). Students will be released only to persons listed for student pick-up. Anyone picking up a student shall be required to show valid identification. When possible, schedule appointments during non-school times (After school, Student Holidays…)
