Cougar Connection Newsletter

A note from Mrs. Cureton:

We have had a fantastic week 2 of school! We are entering into a busy time of the school year and have many fun family events coming up that we encourage all families to attend.

Staying Connected @ School:

Please make sure you are connected to your student's LiveSchool account--this gives you insight into your student's day at school. Here, you can see the points your student is earning for his/her leadership skills and hard work on campus.

We also want every family connected to their student's classroom teacher--all families should have received a way to connect (either via Dojo, Remind, or email) with teachers at Meet the Teacher Night or on the first day of school.

If you have any questions or need help with LiveSchool or connecting with your student's teachers, please call our front office or email Mrs. Cureton. We want all of our families connected to us at Clarkston!

Kona Ice Day:

Kona Ice Day is coming Friday, September 6th! A flyer will come home on Thursday, next week, for families to order a snocone for their student(s). More details in the flyer coming home soon!

Grandfriends Day:

Friday, September 6th, 7:15am--7:50am. Calling all grandfriends! We can't wait for you to join us for a light breakfast and craft in the library! If you have a grandfriend that would like to attend, we encourage them to come to the front office the day before to have their license scanned for quicker entry on the day of the event! See flyer below for more details.

Open House:

Join us for Open House on Wednesday, September 18th, from 5:15pm-6:30pm. Please make plans to join us and learn more about academic expectations for all grade levels & how you can best support your student this year! Kona Ice will be on campus for a cold treat!

Clarkston Spirit Night @Rose Stadium:

Please join us as we cheer on our Tyler Legacy Red Raiders as they face Rockwall-Heath on Friday, September 27th! Students will meet Mrs. Cureton & other Clarkston staff members at the gates to enter the field @6:30pm. More details to come as the date approaches!

Campus Visitors:

Parents/Guardians are welcome to join their student(s) during lunch times only. Any visitors to campus must enter through the front office, have a valid ID, and obtain a visitors badge to enter the building.

Arrival Procedures:

Morning drop off is located at our cafeteria doors on Fairfax. All students should enter campus through the cafeteria doors each morning. Only students and staff are allowed to enter through the cafeteria doors. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria, and is free to all students, from 7:00am-7:45am. Any student arriving to campus after 7:50am will need to have a parent walk them in through the front entrance doors.

Dismissal Procedures:

Parents should complete an After-School Action Plan(with classroom teacher) so that teachers and staff have a written plan for each student.  Parents must call the front office or submit a written request for student dismissal changes by 2:30 p.m. each day.

Students in grades pre-k, kindergarten, and first will not be allowed to dismiss as "walkers". They must have an older sibling at Clarkston to walk home with them. Parents/guardians that are meeting walking students may meet their students at the stop sign on the corner of Pinecrest and Williamsburg Drive.

Parents may pick up their child by signing him/her out through the office (before 2:30pm).  Students will be released only to persons listed for student pick-up.  Anyone picking up a student shall be required to show valid identification.  When possible, schedule appointments during non-school times (after school, student holidays…)

Have a great weekend!
