This week has been busy on campus with several hands-on learning experiences for your Cougars! We are getting ready for Open House this coming Thursday, September 22nd. We hope to see you there! Please check the calendar dates at the bottom of this newsletter- we have several school events coming up during the month of October that you won't want to miss!
Next week is Start with Hello Week. This week your students will engage in activities in their classrooms that promote a culture of inclusion & connectedness & encourages them to reach out to others. We encourage families to talk with their students at home about including all and making connections with their peers. See the flyer below for our dress up days for this week.
Open House will take place on Thursday, September 22nd, from 5:30pm-6:30pm. There will be two sessions provided for each grade level so that you have the opportunity to visit more than one grade level, if needed, for your family. Session 1 will take place, in all grade levels, from 5:30-5:55. Session 2 will take place, in all grade levels, from 6:00-6:30. Please make plans to join us and learn more about academic expectations & how you can best support your student this year! Sweet Tea's Cookie truck will be on site for a sweet treat!
Our PTA supports several of the events happening on campus this year. We encourage all of our families to join the Clarkston PTA-moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and even grandparents can join! Your $7 yearly membership goes directly back into supporting Clarkston students. As a PTA member, you can choose your level of involvement-whether that’s simply paying your annual membership fee or helping PTA plan school events such as the fall carnival, field day, class parties, and other fun events on campus. Cougar Nation Reminders:
--Please drop off by 7:50am. Our tardy bell rings at that time & we want our Cougars ready to learn with us! The cafeteria entrance is open from 7:00am-7:50am. Any students arriving after 7:50am must come to the front entrance and be checked in at the front office by an adult.
--All visitors must check in at the front office and have a valid ID with them.
--We cannot release students after 2:30pm due to dismissal procedures. If you have appointments, please make arrangements to pick up by this time or you will be asked to wait until dismissal at 3:10pm.
Join our amazing PTA!
PTA Membership Contest: Thanks to the 30 parents and staff members who are already members of the Clarkston PTA. We would love to have many more, so we’re sponsoring a fun contest. Each grade level will earn 1 extra minute of recess for every PTA membership completed online until open house. For example, if 3rd grade gets 30 more PTA members, then all of 3rd grade gets an extra 30-minute recess. Deadline is Sept 22nd.
