accounting

Sometimes it helps to get outside of the classroom and learn from a new perspective, breath some fresh air and get some Vitamin D!

The Finance pathway includes classes in Business Management, BIM 2, Accounting 1 and Accounting 2.  Our goal is to introduce and enhance the student’s knowledge at CTC in these areas to be ready to go to college with skills acquired in class.

CTC Accounting students receive a basic understanding of the subject in the first year and then in the second year, continue with this skillset to complete all areas of the accounting cycle. Students record transactions, prepare financial statements, reconciling bank statements, and budgeting for a company.  Accounting 2 students learn basic financial analysis techniques to evaluate a company's performance and make informed financial decisions.

CTC Business Management classes focus on what it is like to be a manager in many different areas of business.  Starting with the functions of management and management styles- the students work specifically on how to manage people, situations, planning, organizing, leading and controlling.

Students also worked on team-building exercises. See video here: Business Management and Accounting Teambuilding

All CTC classes study business ethics and evaluate what the definition of ethics is, how to practice ethics in business, and how valuable ethics are in business.  There is also a heavy emphasis on ‘soft skills’ in the workplace so that our students are prepared for a career, college, or military employment upon graduation.  For more on this pathway, please visit: Accounting Pathway Information or Business Management Pathway Information
