For Tyler ISD Professional Development Day on Monday, October 16th, 2023, Career and Technical Education teachers had the opportunity to train via the Texas Teach Like a Champion Program in the beautiful setting of the UT Tyler Alumni House. CTC Campus Instructional Leadership Team members dissected five different components of TLAC and guided students through activities to help master those components: Double Planning, Teacher Radar, Strong Voice, Exit Tickets, and Systems & Procedures. Through tactile activities, group planning and individual Q&A, teachers worked towards ways to implement the philosophies and strategies in their classrooms.
Dr. Walls also instructed teachers on how to utilize Magicschool.ai in the classroom. Not only did she show us lesson planning and activity planning strategies, but also how to use the website for class-appropriate ice-breakers, tutorial video question generation, quiz generation and even songs! It was not only highly informative, but also fun.
In the afternoon, teachers were guided through ICEV training, which will help with lesson planning, TEKS alignment and assessments.
