culinaryculinaryculinaryculinaryculinaryChef Strother and Chef Bridges, our Tyler ISD Career & Technology Culinary Arts instructors, worked with our talented Culinary Arts students on learning knife skills by cutting potatoes using varied techniques, as well as creating decadent pies from apple, to lemon meringue to a beautiful French tart. Students not only learned the skills but were able to taste their creations to know how to adjust and continually improve. "Knife skills pay the bills," as they say. Making a great pie would bring in the customers, as well.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Culinary Arts students engage in a dynamic learning environment that equips them with essential culinary skills and knowledge. They explore various cooking techniques, food safety standards, and nutrition principles, fostering a deep understanding of the culinary industry. Students participate in hands-on experiences, preparing a diverse range of dishes, from classic cuisines to innovative culinary creations. Through teamwork and creativity, they develop menu planning, presentation, and plating skills, culminating in the ability to execute full-course meals. This program not only prepares them for careers in culinary arts but also instills a lifelong appreciation for food and cooking. Students also have an opportunity to run a CTC Culinary cafΓ© setting from prepping, cooking, running expo, serving, being a cashier, bussing tables and cleaning. Updates to the cafΓ© opening will be given in the future.
