Congratulations to Steven Young, senior at Tyler Legacy High School and the Career & Technology Center, for being named District Secondary Student of the Month.

With an impressive portfolio of achievements in theatre and audio-visual production, Steven is a bright and talented student with a promising future ahead.

Steven’s dedication to his craft has earned him national recognition as a 2025 YoungArts Winner with Distinction in Theatre, the highest honor awarded by the National YoungArts Foundation. This prestigious award celebrates his outstanding artistic ability, placing him among more than 800 of the most accomplished young artists in the country. As a member of the YoungArts community, Steven is eligible for lifelong professional development opportunities and may even be nominated as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, one of the highest honors for high school seniors.

Beyond his success in theatre, Steven has demonstrated exceptional skill in audio-visual production. He placed third in the Better Business Bureau Video Contest and earned second place in the CTElite Team Award for AV Production.

Currently, Steven is working with Junior Achievement to produce their annual Laureate of the Year video, which will be featured at the JA Awards Banquet in March. His ability to blend creativity with technical expertise makes him a standout student, and his kindness and motivational spirit inspire those around him.

With his talent, determination, and passion for the arts, Steven Young is destined for success. Tyler ISD is proud to celebrate his achievements and looks forward to seeing where his journey takes him next. Congratulations, Steven!

The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
