Little Readers
Griffin Elementary School
September 3, 2024
Our library is organized into 3 zones.
Zone1 is dedicated to students in grades PreK-1st. It is designed to teach listening skills, color identification, the beginning steps of literacy and library organization.
Every week we read a story that correlates with classroom learning goals and themes. We also partner with music, PE, art and the school counselor to make sure we cover their needs as well. We learn organization and independence when we use the supply station.
A library lesson includes 4 Steps:
1. Book Referral/Selection
2. A Corresponding Learning Activity
3. An Audio/Visual or Technology Connection (*Especially if we are working with Life Skills, emerging English speakers or Struggling Readers)
4. Book Checkout
