Excitement was in the hallways of 16 Tyler ISD campuses as the Tyler ISD Foundation Grant Patrol delivered the news to the educators being named a 2023-2024 Grants for Great Ideas recipients. The Tyler ISD Foundation board members, District leadership, and community partners braved the rainy weather to bring a little bit of sunshine for this annual event.
As the Grant Patrol cheered through the halls, teachers, students, and staff were excited to see the lucky recipients receive big checks funding their projects. The Grants for Great Ideas program provides resources to fund individual and teams of educators for innovative and creative projects intended to enrich classrooms and support student achievement.
“Awarding classroom grants is at the forefront of our mission,” Tyler ISD Foundation Executive Director Suzette Farr said. “We love having the opportunity to fund projects that encourage our teachers to think outside the box and be innovative in their classrooms. Some of the grants awarded are highly desired and fill a need that is not otherwise funded. It’s rewarding to see the excitement and gratitude of our amazing teachers and their students on Grant Patrol Day.”
Sixteen Tyler ISD campuses will benefit from 26 awarded grants totaling almost $80,000. Grants being funded range from classroom transformation kits that immerse and engage students in learning spaces across various themes and content areas at Three Lakes Middle School to educational science kits to sensory obstacles for the therapeutic horsemanship program at the Boshears Center of Exceptional Programs.
