Design a Bookmark Contest

In honor of National Library Week, April 24-28, Jones Jaguars were invited to participate in a Bookmark Design contest.

"The students are always asking for bookmarks in the library" said Media Technology Specialist, Melisa LeBlanc.  "We thought this contest would be a great way to let our students partner with us in the library to provide a needed supply with a creative twist!"

Students were given a blank rectangle and asked to design a colorable bookmark using only black ink pen or marker.  The theme of the bookmark was open, but students were encouraged to create a design that would celebrate books, reading, or libraries. If their design was selected, it would be copied and given out for all students to color and use in their books.

Many students submitted designs and they were uploaded digitally for all Jones students and staff to vote for their favorites.   After a week of online voting, the top winners were selected.

Winners were:

Victoria Ruelas, 5th Grade

Silas Stevenson, 2nd Grade

Annie Gonzales, 1st Grade

Students loved the contest and can't wait until next year to enter their design ideas! For a downloadable file that you can print at home, please click https://5il.co/1tqpv
