Mrs. Emilee Kubara, Jones Elementary Teacher of the Year 2020-2021

Jones staff has selected Mrs. Emilee Kubara as their campus Teacher of the Year for 2020-2021.  When the selection was announced, Mrs. Kubara says that she was "shocked and very grateful for the nomination."  We know that she will represent Jones well as she advances on to the District Teacher of the Year round.

Mrs. Kubara has been a teacher for 4 1/2 years.  She previously taught first grade for 2 1/2 years and is now completing her second year of teaching 3rd grade math and science. She has been in Tyler ISD and Jones since the beginning of her teaching career.

Her philosophy of teaching is "No matter a child's background or circumstance, they are capable of growing academically and emotionally in a safe environment." As the Campus Teacher of the Year, she plans to continue to grow along with the students and staff so that she does not remain stagnant.  She maintains an open-door policy, and loves helping other teachers if they need advice or ideas. She strives to be involved in a variety of campus initiatives so that she can stay knowledgeable and do her part so that each student she encounters will be successful.

Mrs. Kubara has been a Math Expert Teacher for TISD since 2018. On this expert team, she has written gradual release lesson plans for first and third grade math teachers, designed activities for station work, and modeled math lessons for other teachers. She serve as a Campus Instructional Leader for 3-5 Math as well as on other committees such as OHI, AVID, CPOC, District Planning Committee, and the District Calendar Committee.

She has also recently been recognized as the Tyler ISD District Teacher of the Month for January 2021 along with Jones Teacher of the month recognitions in 2017 and 2019.

Congratulation, Mrs. Kubara!
