Tyler Legacy High School's Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024, Jordan Mooney with students

We are thrilled to announce the Tyler Legacy High School Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year is none other than, Jordan Mooney.

Learn more about Ms. Mooney below:

I am currently in my tenth year of teaching, nine of which have been with Tyler Legacy. I hold a BA in Mathematics, MEd in Curriculum & Instruction as well as Educational Leadership. I currently teach Algebra 2 PAP and AP Statistics, serve as Key Club advisor, and coach for UIL Calculator and UIL Accounting. I love teaching at Tyler Legacy because we truly have the best students and staff around! I enjoy helping our students live up to their potential and challenge them to be the very best version of themselves. I love engaging in mature conversations with them about their learning and everyday life. I’m constantly amazed by all the wonderful things they accomplish and the brilliant young adults they are molding into over the course of their four years with us. I’m honored to be a part of that molding, even if only in the tiniest of ways. The collaborative nature of Tyler Legacy, between staff and students alike, is second to none. Any time I’m in the hall, I pass by classrooms or different pod spaces where students are working together and engaging in meaningful educational discourse. Teachers at Tyler Legacy, just like our students, are always striving to learn more and improve upon practices to better student success- what it’s all about! The cohesion of our staff and administration is probably one of my favorite aspects of teaching at TL.
