Tyler Legacy students with the Byrans Family

Tyler Legacy High School recently concluded a heartwarming and impactful fundraiser week called "Jack's Joy Week," dedicated to honoring the memory of Jack Bryans, a beloved student at Andy Woods Elementary School in Tyler ISD who battled Leigh syndrome, a debilitating neurological disorder. Jack's legacy inspired Tyler Legacy to rally together in support of a noble cause: constructing a Miracle League baseball field at Faulkner Park, a testament to Jack's enduring spirit and love for the game.

"He loved people. He loved playing games. He loved his family," Casey Bryans, father of Jack Bryans said. "And that's part of our reason and our love for baseball because he loved to play mainly because he loved to be on the team with everybody."

The Mracle League of Tyler champions inclusivity by providing a specialized rubberized field, removing barriers for players with disabilities. Beyond the game, it fosters friendships, boosts self-esteem, and promotes dignity through its buddy system, pairing players with peers for an incomparable bond of joy.

Throughout the week, Tyler Legacy students organized a myriad of fundraising events, including powderpuff football, student versus teacher dodgeball, and restaurant nights. T-shirt sales, singing telegrams, and more added to the efforts, culminating in a vibrant celebration of Jack's life at an assembly. Performances by Tyler Legacy's finest, including the Southern Belle Drill team, Cheer, Theater, and Drumline, paved the way for the grand finale: presenting the Bryans family with a staggering sum of over $12,000 towards the Miracle Field.

Jack's Joy Week exemplified the power of community, compassion, and collective action, leaving an indelible mark of hope and unity in Tyler Legacy's legacy.
