Texas Bank and Trust (TB&T) is pleased to announce the selection of 17 seniors representing Tyler High School and Tyler Legacy High School to serve on its 2022-2023 Student Board of Directors. The TB&T Student Board is a prestigious program recognizing outstanding high school seniors in the community.
Seniors Micah Anderson, Adrian Bueno, Anna Culver, Martin Easterling, Isabella Egana, Blanca Kellermann-Jimenez, Amy Knarr, Ariel Mendoza, Lyna Nguyen, Ayan’Na Prince, Rushil Sajjan, Lydia Schweizer, Aubrey Sheffield, Priscilla Sosa, Isabella Trimble, Lorelai Walker, and Kelley Washington will join with 48 other seniors from All Saints Episcopal, Brook Hill, Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic, and Grace Community high schools to make up the 14th senior class to participate in the TB&T program in Tyler.
The 2022-2023 Student Board members were introduced to the TB&T bank staff in an Orientation Reception on Tuesday, August 30, in the main lobby of the bank’s West Grande Branch location. Parents and school administrators were invited to attend.
The Student Board program is designed to introduce students to banking and money management at a critical point in their lives, and to provide them with the essential economic building blocks to earning, spending, saving, and investing money. The students will be challenged this year in a stock game competition, titled BULLS VS. BEARS. Back by popular demand, through this legacy Student Board curriculum, students will take a deeper dive into investing as they follow the stock market throughout the year with their “investment funds.” Students will also serve as advisors to the bank on youth financial literacy programming throughout the year.
Established in 1978, Student Board remains the bank’s first and most enduring financial literacy program.
Student Board members were selected based on their grade point average, extracurricular activities, and after-school work activities. Students must submit an essay with their application as well as two letters of recommendation from either a faculty member or administrator to be considered for the program. Students accepted into the 2022 Student Board program were notified in early June.
Since its inception, the Student Board has introduced more than 3,200 East Texas high school seniors to banking and money management.
