Thank you so much TylerISD Foundation for funding 2 grants to our teachers here at Tyler Legacy!
Christine Morton-Stepp and James Horner are bringing drones to the classroom after scoring a $5,000 grant sponsored by Tyler ISD Foundation’s grant partner, Fitzpatrick Architects, with their "The Drone Rangers" project. 🚁✨🌐📽️
What does the grant do?
The Drone Rangers grant empowers ROTC students to explore the Principles of IT, AV Production, and drone technology. With ten drones and a curriculum for 20 students, they'll learn coding, flight control, video production, and participating in TryDrones competitions.
Congratulations to Amber Barnarda for earning a $643 grant that’s bringing “RAID Boxes” to Tyler Legacy, thanks to the Tyler ISD Foundation for her project, "UnlockEd: Unlocking Engagement in the Classroom.” 🔐📦✨
What does the grant do?
RAID Boxes are physical, hands-on boxes with locks, and teachers can create various engaging activities for students to “break into” them. The RAID Boxes are designed with four key elements in mind: RTI, Assess, Instruct, Differentiate.

The past 2 weekends our students have participated in both the Freshman All-Region Clinic and Concert as well as the High School All-Region Clinic and Concert. We had over 70 students make the All-Region Bands. They got to work with clinicians such as Marc Nichelson from China Springs HS, Eric Rath from Canyon High School, and Dr. Caroline Hand from The University of Oklahoma. The students put together an awesome concert in approximately 9 rehearsal hours. They had a great time participating in the bands with other students from our region!
Congrats Tyler Legacy Band!

We are always striving for improvement at Tyler Legacy. What better way to do that than learning from our own teacher leaders? Yesterday our Master Teacher, Ms. Clary, Algebra teacher, Ms. Barnard, and Spanish teacher, Mr. Hartsock led an engaging, hands-on professional development focusing on student engagement that was full of different strategies, activities, and ideas teachers could take back and use in their classrooms. Dr. John Hattie's research shows that this has a highly positive effect size on student learning. This professional development opportunity is helping us to meet our campus goals to grow and support teacher leaders and increase student engagement in the classroom. #LegacyLeads

Tyler Legacy students Alba Tomas, Sebastian Raney, and Kate Moore received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA). This is an intensive leadership experience to develop leadership skills and build connections in the community. These students will be attending a leadership camp in February.
Way to go Raiders!

Happy National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day! At Tyler Legacy, we have the best Security Resource Officers (SROs). They are always making sure we are safe and are many of the students' favorite staff members!
Big THANK YOU to Officer Westbrook, Officer Fonville, and Officer Rooney for all you do! 👮♂️👮♂️👮♀️

Join us to cheer on our Lady Raiders Varsity Basketball team tomorrow, January 9 at 6:30 in the Red Raider gym. Our big Red Raider band and Varsity cheer will be there! Free pizza🍕 for Red Mob attendees!

We had some special visitors at Tyler Legacy this morning. Tyler Legacy alumnus, now members of the World Famous Kilgore Rangerettes, Malory Craft, Ella Byers, and Truleigh Trosclair came to visit our Southern Belle Drill Team to give a presentation and answer any questions about the recruitment, tryout process, and all things Rangerettes. How fun to see former students doing amazing things in their lives after Legacy. ❤🖤
