Our Mustang Cross Country team traveled to Hallsville Saturday, September 12th for their first race of the season. They had a great start to the season with all runners improving and running some of their personal best times.Our girls’ team included Lilly Crockett, Abbigail Gray, Riley Gray, Alya Munoz, and Yulianna Mancillia leading the team to a 4th place finish in their heat. Our boys team included Mason Maldonado (2nd place), Isaiah Sellers (9th place), Dabid Victoriano (8th Place), Seth Urieta, & Angel Vasquez which helped our boys seal a 2nd place finish in their heat.
Following our race in Hallsville, we then traveled to Jacksonville where once again all of our runners set new personal records. On our girls team we had Lilly Crockett, Cielo Garcia, Alya Munoz, Abbie Gray, & Riley Gray competing against some very tough competition, but unfortunately were not able to medal in this race. Our boys’ team had four finish in the top 15 to bring home medals. Mason Maldonado finishing 5th, Isaiah Sellers in 10th, Dabid Victoriano in 12th, Jonathan Rodriguez in 14th, & Alex Rodriguez was one place out of the medals in 16th. Helping to complete our boys team were Angel Vazquez, Seth Urieta, & Tres Taylor.
To conclude our season we finished off their season with some great racing at UT Tyler for our District Championship on Saturday, October 17th. On our girls team we had Abbigail Gray, Riley Gray, Cielo Garcia, Lilly Crocket and Nathalie Hernandez all running new personal best times as well as finishing 2nd place overall in the district making it their best race of the year! To help lead our girls team Nathalie Hernandez & Lilly Crocket were able to bring home medals for placing in the top 15 with Nathalie in 8th place and Lilly in 12th place. Our boy’s team included Angel Vasquez, Jonathan Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Dabid Victoriano, Isaiah Sellers, & Mason Maldonado running to help bring home our district championship! Not only did we bring home the championship for the boys for the 4th year in a row, but we also had 5 boys finish in the top 20! Jonathan Rodriguez in 17th, Dabid Victoriano in 14th, Alex Rodriguez in 10th, Isaiah Sellers in 7th, & Mason Maldonado in 3rd.
It was a great season for all runners that competed this season and congratulations on earning so many achievements, not only as individuals, but also as a team!
