Orr Elementary is gearing up for an exciting week, as students, parents, and staff come together for a canned food drive from September 3rd to 6th. The drive aims to support the Tyler High Lions as they prepare to take on their city rivals, the Tyler Legacy Red Raiders, in the big game on September 6th. However, the real winner of this effort will be the East Texas Food Bank.
This spirited competition between the two schools is more than just about football; it's a community effort to fight hunger. Each canned good collected at Orr Elementary contributes to the Lions' tally in a friendly rivalry that benefits those in need. The East Texas Food Bank will receive all the donations, helping to provide meals to families across the region.
"Orr Elementary is proud to support Tyler High and our community," said Principal Harbour. "This food drive is a great way to show school spirit while making a positive impact in the East Texas community."
Families are encouraged to bring canned goods to the school throughout the week of Sept 3 - 6th, Tyler High Football players will collect the goods on Friday when they come to "Reading with the Lions". With every donation, Orr Elementary is not just cheering on the Lions but also lending a helping hand to neighbors in need. Go Lions!
