International Dot Day

Our young artists at Orr Elementary have been hard at work creating stunning pieces for International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity inspired by Peter H. Reynolds' book The Dot. This event encourages students to embrace their artistic potential and make their mark, starting with a simple dot!

In 5th grade, students explored the power of lines and color to express movement, emotion, and structure. They created abstract art pieces using dynamic lines and bold color schemes. From swirling lines to geometric patterns, their work demonstrates a deep understanding of how color and line can work together to tell a visual story.

Our 3rd-grade artists embraced the freedom of Dot Day by experimenting with colorful dots of various sizes and techniques. Using paints, markers, and other mediums, they filled their canvases with vibrant dots, showcasing their creativity and individuality.

Meanwhile, our kindergarten students brought their playful imaginations to life with colorful, freeform dot art. Their simple but expressive dots show that even the youngest artists can create something beautiful.
