Congratulations to Joshua Miller, a 5th grade student at Rice Elementary School, for being named the District Elementary Student of the Month.
Joshua is a gifted artist whose work has received accolades since early childhood. In first grade, he won a state-level art contest, and more recently, his artwork was selected for the βBeauty in a Boxβ program, where local art is showcased on electrical boxes at intersections in Tyler.
His talents extend beyond the canvas. Joshua is an accomplished athlete, leading his soccer team as the top scorer this fall. Additionally, he has a flair for performing arts, taking on starring roles in productions such as Finding Nemo, Jr. at Rice Elementary, where he played Nemo, and as Joseph in his churchβs nativity musical.
Joshuaβs kindness and integrity set him apart on campus. Known for treating everyone with respect, he was chosen to represent the 5th grade on the Student Lighthouse Team, where he serves as a "Friday Friend," warmly greeting students and staff every Friday morning.
Balancing his many activities, Joshua maintains a permanent spot on the A Honor Roll and has achieved perfect attendance this school year. His dedication, leadership, and talents make him a shining example of excellence at Rice Elementary and beyond. Congratulations, Joshua!
The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.
Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
