In a remarkable display of community spirit and generosity, Tyler ISD announced at tonight’s highly anticipated Rose City Rivalry football game that Tyler High and Tyler Legacy collectively raised 117,243 meals for hungry East Texans as part of the 34th Annual Pantry Raid. Since its beginning in 1991, the Pantry Raid has inspired students to raise more than 1.7 million meals.

The friendly competition, which feeder schools and the broader community supported, saw students from both campuses work tirelessly over the past two weeks to collect food and funds. Their efforts will directly benefit the East Texas Food Bank (ETFB) and its programs, including the BackPack Program, which provides more than 13,000 East Texas children with nutritious food every weekend.

“We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and community members for coming together to make such a significant impact,” said Jennifer Hines, Chief Communications Officer of Tyler ISD. “This competition shows that while Tyler High and Tyler Legacy may be rivals on the field, they are united in their commitment to serving our community and fighting hunger in East Texas.”

The contributions from this event will support ETFB’s mission to fight hunger and feed hope across 26 counties in East Texas. The funds raised will be channeled into essential programs that ensure children and families have access to nutritious food.
