Tyler High School was recognized and awarded 5A School of the Year by Carter BloodCare. Students studying to be future health professionals and their classmates exceeded donation goals and received a $1,500 Great Grant for their efforts.
“Tyler High School won this $1500 Great Grant for hosting three blood drives and collecting 244 units last year,” said Carter BloodCare Manager of Operations-Field Recruitment Jacque Decker. “The Great Grants program rewards schools supporting our community blood supply by hosting blood drives with Carter BloodCare and meeting their annual blood drive goals. The students at Tyler High did an amazing job with their blood drives and had a lot of success and fun with their Valentine’s Day and Cinco de Mayo-themed drives this past year.”
“We are thankful for Carter BloodCare for giving our students a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community and help save lives,” Tyler High Anatomy and Physiology/EKG Tech Steve Niedrauer added. “Having tangible goals and friendly competition with the other high schools makes the process even more enjoyable. Blood drives at our Tyler High School are festive events. Our future health professionals love helping Carter put on these events.”
Mr. Niedrauer and Leslie Bernal, Captain of the Tyler High School Brigadettes, accepted the check from Carter BloodCare representative Lanie Wright during a small presentation on campus.
